The crossing into southern Uganda begins with the mountain gorillas of the National Parks of Mgahinga and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where buffalo and elephants might also be glimpsed. Further into the country lies the vast Queen Elizabeth National Park: home to the Big Five and several endemic species. Cultural and ethnic diversity – at its most intense in the cosmopolitan capital of Kampala – makes traveling through the ‘pearl of Africa’ a fascinating journey.
