Hiking into the volcanic mountains in search of the world’s only remaining mountain gorillas is undoubtedly an extraordinary experience.

Setting out early from Kigali, you’ll drive the two and a half hours north, ascending into the highlands as you head for Volcanoes National Park HQ. Assigned an experienced team of trackers and guides, you’ll walk into the Virungas to find one of the twelve gorilla families that inhabit the Rwandan side of the reserve.

Upon your return, you’ll have a chance to share your experience over lunch at a mountain lodge before heading back to Kigali.
