Welcome to Rwanda! You’ll be met at the airport for the short drive to your hotel. Tonight is a welcome dinner at one of Kigali's best restaurants.

Kigali & Nyungwe

Tour the capital’s highlights, street art and visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Journey into the agricultural heartland of Rwanda, passing tea and coffee estates, arriving in Nyungwe National Park in the afternoon.

Nyungwe Waterfall

Plunge deep into the rainforest to hike to 'isumo' ('waterfall' in Kinyarwanda), and see hundreds of species of plants, orchids, and birds. After lunch, tour the tea plantation owned by the local Gisakura community - the smell of fresh tea leaves is heavenly.

Primates of Rwanda

Chimpanzees & Canopy walkway

Track chimpanzees this morning - our closest DNA relatives. After a little R&R, spend the afternoon suspended 70 metres above the rainforest floor on Nyungwe's Canopy Walk.

KingFisher Journeys

Nyungwe to Musanze

Drive north along shores of one of the Great Lakes of Africa. Explore by boat, crossing over to Napoleon Island for a spot of bird watching, and arrive this evening in Volcanoes National Park.

Mountain gorillas

Climb into the misty mountains to track one of the world's remaining gorilla families. Recuperate at the lodge after the early start, or explore the border town of Musanze.

Mountain Gorillas & Fly to Akagera

Hike into the Volcanoes National Park for your second gorilla trek. Depart via helicopter with stunning views over the Virungas, heading east to the grasslands of Akagera National Park.

Magashi Wildness Camp

Dawn and dusk are undoubtedly the best times to spot wildlife. Explore the Mohana and Kilala Plains, home to many of the big cats, and look out for giraffe, zebra, elephant, buffalo and herds of antelope.

Magashi to Kigali

A dawn game drive before breakfast and it's time to return to the capital. Passing through Akagera you'll have a last chance to spot the Big Five. We will arrive in Kigali by early evening.
